LET US TAKE A LOOK AT THE ETYMOLOGY OF THE NAME OF THE VILLAGE, BOYONG ATAS ITSELF. BOYONG-ATAS IS taken FROM TWO WORDS, "BOYONG" AND "ATAS". BOYONG means CARRY; TAKE TO; BRING and ATAS means HIGH (see others; ABOVE, UP ;prepositions). Geographically, the land is above the sea level. That is why the land is located mostly higher than the other villages surrounding. In short, this village could be said as the highest land. Relating to its HISTORY, the word, BOYONG, has a background with its founding fathers. In the past, it was said that certain visitors CARRIED some kinds of spices or properties, or even treasures to this village as they knew this was the highest ground to put their produce safely. The residents then made their settlements and began to survive until they made a community. This village was built with some irregular comers who then decided to marry the local people and dwelled.
