"Waffle House" adalah lagu oleh band asal Amerika Serikat, Jonas Brothers. Lagu ini dirilis melalui Republic Records sebagai single kedua dari album studio keenam mereka, The Album, pada 7 April 2023.[1] Tiga anggota grup, Joe, Nick dan Kevin Jonas, menulis lagu dengan produser Jon Bellion, Ido Zmishlany, Daniel Tashian, Pete Nappi dan TenRoc, bersama Johnny Simpson dan Aldae.

Pada 27 Januari 2023, Jonas Brothers diwawancarai oleh Variety, di mana mereka mengungkapkan beberapa judul lagu dari The Album, dengan "Waffle House" menjadi salah satunya.[2] Setelah mempratinjau berbagai potongan lagu, mereka mengumumkan tanggal perilisannya dan membagikan gambar sampulnya pada 24 Maret 2023.[3][4][5] Mereka membawakan lagu ini bersama beberapa lagu lain dari The Album untuk pertama kali pada pertunjukan terakhir mereka di Broadway di Teater Marquis di Manhattan, New York pada 18 Maret 2023.[6]

Komposisi dan Lirik sunting

"Waffle House" adalah lagu pop yang diambil dari nama restoran dengan nama yang sama, tempat Jonas Brothers biasa makan setelah selesai tampil di pertunjukan dan tempat mereka membuat kenangan.[7] Lagu "gelisah dengan groove yang funky dan harmoni yang dimaksudkan untuk musik gospel" saat Nick dan Joe bernyanyi di bagian refrein: "No, don't get stressed, it's gon' get figured out / Oh, deep conversations at the Waffle House / Headstrong father and a determined mother / Oh, that's why some nights, we try to kill each other / But you know it's always love".[8][9]

Video musik untuk "Waffle House" dirilis saat streaming langsung YouTube yang diadakan oleh Jonas Brothers pada 28 April 2023. Musik video lagu ini disutradarai oleh Anthony Mandler.[10] Musik video lagu ini tayang perdana di saluran Vevo Jonas Brothers di YouTube pada pukul 3 sore EST[11] di hari yang sama.[12] Video lagu ini mengambil gambar di London, dan menampilkan gerakan tarian dari Jonas Brothers,[13] bersama penonton, saat dalam perjalanan untuk tampil di Royal Albert Hall,[14] tempat mereka mengadakan konser pada 14 April 2023, hingga mempromosikan album baru mereka.[15]

Penampilan langsung sunting

Jonas Brothers membawakan lagu ini pada malam kelima residensi Broadway mereka, pada 18 Maret 2023, sebagai bagian dari setlist untuk The Album.[16] Pada 8 April 2023, mereka membawakan lagu ini di Saturday Night Live, bersama dengan lagu "Walls", sebagai bintang tamu.[17]
