Misi Marshall (Hanzi: 马歇尔使华; Pinyin: Mǎxiē'ěr Shǐhuá; 20 Desember 1945 – Januari 1947) adalah sebuah misi diplomatik gagal yang diusahakan oleh Jenderal Angkatan Darat Amerika Serikat George C. Marshall ke Tiongkok dalam upaya untuk merundingkan pembentukan pemerintahan bersatu dari Partai Komunis Tiongkok dan Nasionalis (Kuomintang).

Sepanjang rentang waktu Perang Tiongkok-Jepang Kedua sebuah kebuntuan yang meresahkan telah muncul antara Komunis Tiongkok (PKT) dan Nasionalis Tiongkok (KMT), sementara sebelum perang, kedua belah pihak telah terlibat konflik terbuka satu sama lain. Selama periode itu banyak personel militer Amerika Serikat dan penulis swasta mengunjungi dan melaporkan Bagian Komunis Tiongkok. Pada tahun 1936, jurnalis internasional Edgar Snow melakukan perjalanan dan mewawancarai para anggota terkemuka Partai Komunis Tiongkok. Snow melaporkan bahwa Mao adalah seorang reformis daripada seorang revolusioner radikal,[1] dan banyak pembaca mendapat kesan bahwa komunis Tiongkok adalah "reformis agraria".[2] Pada tahun 1944 Misi Dixie, Kolonel Amerika Serikat John Service mengunjungi Komunis dan memuji mereka, menyatakan bahwa mereka adalah reformis demokratis, menyamakan mereka dengan sosialis Eropa daripada Komunis Soviet dan menyatakan bahwa mereka lebih tidak korup dan kacau daripada kelompok Nasionalis.[3][4][5][6]

Duta Besar Amerika Serikat untuk Tiongkok Clarence Gauss merekomendasikan Amerika Serikat "menarik sumbat dan membiarkan seluruh Pemerintah Tiongkok mengalir ke saluran pembuangan". Jenderal Patrick Hurley menyatakan bahwa Komunis Tiongkok bukan komunis sejati. Komandan Teater Tiongkok Burma India, Joseph Stilwell berulang kali menyatakan (bertentangan dengan statistik Komintern) bahwa Komunis melakukan lebih daripada KMT, dan berusaha untuk memotong semua bantuan AS ke Tiongkok.[7][8]

Usaha-usaha Amerika selama Perang Dunia Kedua untuk mengakhiri perang yang putus sambung antara dua faksi tersebut telah gagal, terutama Misi Hurley: pada tahun 1944 Jenderal Patrick Hurley mendekati kedua kelompok, dan meyakini bahwa perbedaan mereka sebanding dengan Partai Republik dan Demokrat di Amerika Serikat.[9]

Selama perang, baik PKT dan KMT telah menuduh satu sama lain menahan personel tentara dan senjata melawan Jepang sebagai persiapan untuk tindakan ofensif terhadap satu sama lain. Dengan demikian, dalam upaya putus asa untuk menjaga keutuhan negara, Presiden Harry S. Truman pada akhir 1945 mengirim Jenderal George Marshall sebagai utusan khusus kepresidenannya ke Tiongkok untuk merundingkan sebuah pemerintahan persatuan.
