Map of the Problematique atau Synthy Dreams[1] adalah lagu dari band rock alternatif, Muse di album Black Holes & Revelations. Ini dirilis sebagai single kelima dari album dan hanya tersedia digital download.[2] Dirilis setelah konser Muse di stadion Wembley tanggal 16 Juni & 17 Juni 2007.[3]

"Map of the Problematique" adalah sebuah lagu rock elektronik yang menampilkan penggunaan berat synthesizer, distorsi, Flanging dan oktaf pergeseran. Ditulis dalam kunci C minor, bergerak dalam waktu yang umum di sebuah tempo agak cepat 130 bpm. Vokalis Matthew Bellamy ditampilkan mencakup rentang vokal dari B ♭ 3 ke C5. Vokalnya dalam lagu yang overdubbed untuk menciptakan efek gema.
Riff utama tidak menampilkan apapun akord dominan, yang jarang terjadi. Akord yang dimainkan adalah utama C minor, E ♭, A ♭ utama, dan F minor.
Lagu ini telah menarik perbandingan sering untuk "Enjoy The Silence" oleh Depeche Mode karena akor dan aransemen mereka sama. Bellamy juga mengatakan Depeche Mode sebagai inspirasi untuk lagu ini dalam wawancara.[4]

Berasal dari latihan sebelum merekam Black Holes & Revelations. Ini pada awalnya dimainkan di synthesizer sebelum ditransfer ke gitar, memberikan suara yang lebih gelap, meskipun awalnya niat adalah untuk menyimpannya sebagai keyboard-yang berorientasi sebaik mungkin.
