Sir Harold Jeffreys, FRS (22 April 1891 – 18 Maret 1989) adalah seorang matematikawan, ahli statistik, ahli geofisika, dan astronom.

Ia dilahirkan di Fatfield, Washington, County Durham, Inggris. Ia belajar di Armstrong College di Newcastle upon Tyne, saat itu bagian dari Universitas Durham, serta di Universitas London External Programme.[1] Ia kemudian mengajar di St John's College, Cambridge dan menjadi fellow pada tahun 1914. Di Universitas Cambridge ia mengajar matematika, geofisika dan akhirnya menjadi Plumian Professor of Astronomy.

Dari tahun 1939 sampai 1952, ia menjabat sebagai Direktur pada Ringkasan Seismologi Internasional, lebih dikenal sebagai Pusat Seismologi Internasional.

Jeffreys penentang keras teori pergeseran benua. Baginya, pergeseran benua adalah sesuatu yang "tidak mungkin terjadi" (out of question), karena sama sekali tidak ditemukan bukti adanya gaya yang cukup kuat yang dapat menggerakkan benua-benua di permukaan bumi.[2]
