Sejarah

Logo lama Walt Disney World Resort

Sukses di Disneyland tanggal 17 Juli 1955, Walt Disney Productions merencanakan pembangunan resor kedua. Maka pada tanggal 22 November 1963 dimulai rencana pendirian di Sanford, Florida. Namun ditunda hingga tahun 1971.

Distrik drainase Reedy Creek telah didirikan pada tanggal 13 Mei 1966 di bawah lorida State Statutes Chapter 298, yang memberikan kekuasaan termasuk unggulan domain khusus untuk Distrik drainase. Untuk membuat distrik hanya dukungan dari dalam tanah yang diperlukan.

Walt Disney meninggal pada tanggal 15 Desember 1966 sebelum visi itu terwujud. Saudaranya dan mitra bisnis, Roy O. Disney, menunda pengawasan pembangunan resor dari fase pertama. Perusahaan yang bekerja dengan Disney Robert Hart, New York arsitek dan pendiri Hart Howerton, arsitektur sebuah perusahaan yang berspesialisasi dalam skala besar lahan, untuk mengembangkan rencana awal master untuk taman.
