മലയാളം: പുരാതന ഈജിപ്തിലെ സെഖ്‌മത് (Sekhmet) ദേവതയുടെ കരിങ്കൽ പ്രതിമ.തീബീസ്, ബി.സി 1390-1353. പെൻ‌സിൽ‌വാനിയ സർ‌വകലാശാലയുടെ കാഴ്ചബംഗ്ലാവിൽ പ്രദർശിപ്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു. സിംഹമുഖമുള്ള ഈ യുദ്ധ ദേവത തന്റെ നിശ്വാസത്തിലെ അഗ്നിയാൽ ശത്രുക്കളെ നശിപ്പിക്കുമെന്നാണു സങ്കല്പം. രോഗങ്ങൾ ശമിപ്പിക്കാനും പ്ലേഗ് പകർച്ചവ്യാധിയെ അകറ്റാനും സെഖ്‌മത്തിനെ പ്രാചീന ഈജിപ്തുകാർ ആരാധിച്ചിരുന്നു. ഈജിപ്ഷ്യൻ സൃഷ്ടിദേവനായ 'താ'യുടെ (Ptah) ഭാര്യയായും സെഖ്മത്ത് സങ്കല്പിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു. ഇവരുടെ മകനാണു ബാലദേവനായി ആരാധിക്കപ്പെട്ടിരുന്ന നെഫെർടെം (Nefertem).
