Agkistrodon adalah kelompok mura yang tinggal di tanah yang lembap atau dataran basah di Meksiko bagian timur laut dan di Amerika Serikat bagian selatan dan tenggara. Nama ilmiahnya berasal dari kata Agkistron="ikan" dan odont="gigi"; Merujuk pada taring mereka yang seperti gigi taring ikan dan kebiasaan mereka, yakni senang memangsa ikan. Semua jenis menyukai tempat lembap, terutama rawa-rawa.
