Richer Sounds

Richer Sounds adalah sebuah peritel hiburan rumah asal Britania Raya yang mengoperasikan 52 gerai fisik dan sebuah toko daring, yang terutama terletak di Inggris. Perusahaan ini dulu 100% dimiliki oleh Julian Richer, pendiri dan direktur utamanya. Pada tahun 2019, Julian menjual 60% saham yang ia pegang ke serikat pekerja perusahaan ini.[1]

Sejarah sunting

Richer Sounds mulai berbisnis pada tahun 1978 saat Julian Richer, yang pada saat itu masih berusia 19 tahun, membuka gerai pertamanya di dekat Jembatan London, dengan bantuan peritel fotografi, Vic Odden. Selama lebih dari 20 tahun, gerai tersebut telah tercatat di Guinness Book of Records sebagai gerai dengan penjualan tertinggi per kaki persegi di dunia.[2]

Pada bulan November 2013, Julian Richer mengungkapkan bahwa jika ia meninggal, ia akan mewariskan 100% saham perusahaan ini ke serikat pekerjanya.[3][4] Pada bulan Mei 2019, Richer, yang pada saat itu masih berusia 60 tahun, mengumumkan bahwa ia telah menyerahkan 60% saham perusahaan ini ke serikat pekerjanya,[5] serta memberi semua pekerjanya, kecuali direktur,[6] sebuah tanda terima kasih sebesar £1.000[7] dari dompetnya sendiri (totalnya sekitar £4 juta).[8][9][10][11][12][13][14][15]

Penghargaan dan pengakuan sunting

Pada bulan Januari 2011, Richer Sounds menerima gelar Kontraktor Kerajaan.[16]

Richer Sounds telah memenangkan 5 penghargaan 'Retailer of the Year' dari Which?, yakni pada tahun 2010, 2011, 2015,[17] 2018,[18] dan 2019.[19]

Richer Sounds merupakan pemegang Fair Tax Mark,[20] karena transparan mengenai pajak yang dikenakan kepada mereka serta jumlah pajak yang mereka bayar.

Perusahaan ini juga merupakan bagian dari Living Wage Scheme,[21] yang didirikan oleh Living Wage Foundation, dan Julian Richer telah lama mendukung program Living Hours mereka yang berupaya menghapus kontrak nol jam.[22]
