Keane menerima gelar Sarjana Seni Rupa dari Universitas Negeri Emporia pada 1996 dan M.F.A. beserta penghormatan dari Universitas Negara Bagian California, Long Beach.[1] Selain sejumlah kredit teater (termasuk penampilan sebagai Lady Macbeth dan Desdemona),[2] ia terkenal atas perannya sebagai Audie Gallagher dalam serial televisi Ruby & the Rockits. Ia juga melakukan penampilan tamu dalam Passions, Strong Medicine, CSI: NY, How I Met Your Mother, NCIS, Without a Trace, dan Eli Stone. Ia memerankan Sarah dalam film Bollywood 2010 My Name Is Khan.
