Beatifikasi dan kanonisasi Paus Yohanes Paulus II

Paus Yohanes Paulus II memerintah sebagai paus Gereja Katolik Roma dan kepala negara Kota Vatikan selama hampir 27 tahun. Sejak kematiannya pada tanggal 2 April 2005, ribuan orang telah mendukung hal untuk beatifikasi dan kanonisasi mendiang Paus Yohanes Paulus II sebagai seorang santo.[1][2][3][4] Upacara beatifikasi resminya berlangsung pada tanggal 1 Mei 2011.[5]

Gelar "yang Agung" sunting

Sejak kematian Yohanes Paulus II, sejumlah rohaniwan di Vatikan dan orang awam di seluruh dunia[6][7][8] tersebut telah mengacu pada Paus almarhum sebagai "Yohanes Paulus Agung" dan hanya ada empat paus yang dikenal sebagai "yang Agung", dan yang pertama sejak milenium pertama.[6][7][9][10]
