'''Publius''' (atau '''Gaius''') '''Cornelius Tacitus''' (~56 – 117 M) adalah seorang Senator dan penulis sejarah Kerajaan Romawi. Sejumlah tulisannya yang ditemukan termasuk 2 karya besarnya, — ''Annals'' dan ''Histories''— meliput zaman pemerintahan Kaisar Romawi [[Tiberius]], [[Claudius]], [[Nero]] dan pada zaman 4 Kaisar. Karya ini meliputi sejarah Kerajaan Romawi mulai dari matinya Kaisar [[Augustus]] tahun 14 M sampai kematian Kaisar [[Domitian]] tahun 96. Ia adalah sahabat pena [[Plinius yang Muda]].
