Spazz adalah sebuah grup musik powerviolence yang aktif dari tahun 1992 hingga 2000. Trio ini banyak merilis album pada periode tersebut yang mana di antaranya banyak diincar oleh kolektor karena dianggap sangat langka. Musik yang mereka buat banyak menunjukan selera humor mereka yang tidak biasa: judul lagu panjang yang memuat kata-kata tidak masuk akal, sampel suara dari film kelas B, dan penggunaan instrumen yang kerap ada di beat hip hop seperti saksofon, banjo serta instrumen musik lainnya yang jarang diasosiasikan dengan musik hardcore punk. Semua anggota grup musik ini sama-sama pernah mengisi bagian vokal di musik yang mereka buat.[1] Grup musik ini biasanya tampil di tempat-tempat yang mengizinkan penonton dari semua usia untuk masuk.[2]
Pada tahun 2015 sebuah label rekaman asal Skotlandia merilis album tribute untuk mereka yang berjudul Spazzin' To The Oldies - A Tribute To Spazz. Satu tahun setelahnya label rekaman Tankcrimes merilis dua album mereka yang sudah lama tidak beredar yaitu Sweatin' To The Oldies and Sweatin' 3: Skatin', Satan & Katon.[3]
Pasca Spazz
Label rekaman milik Chris Dodge (vokal/bass), Slap A Ham Records,[4] menjadi sebuah ikon pada era naik dan turunnya genre musik powerviolence. Ia, melalui label rekaman ini, banyak merilis album dari grup musik-grup musik berpengaruh seperti Man is the Bastard, No Comment, Crossed Out, Infest, dan termasuk grup musiknya sendiri, Spazz.[5]
Dari tahun 1992 hingga 2000 label rekaman Chris menghelat festival musik powerviolence tahunan bertajuk Fiesta Grande. Sejak saat itu, ia terlibat di banyak proyek musik lainnya. Salah satu yang paling dikenal adalah East West Blast Test. Proyek musik ini melibatkan mantan penabuh drum Discordance Axis dan Melt-Banana, Dave Witte. Pada beberapa tahun terakhir ia juga turut tampil bersama grup musik seperti Despise You, Lack of Interest, dan To The Point.
Max Ward (drum), juga menghelat festival tahunan dengan tema yang sama. Melalui nama label rekamannya, 625 Thrashcore, ia menghelat festival berjudul Super Sabado Gigante. Sedangkan Dan Bolleri yang mengisi posisi gitar dan vokal di Spazz membentuk proyek musik hip hop dengan nama DJ Eons One.
