Direktorat Jenderal Informasi dan Diplomasi Publik mempunyai tugas merumuskan serta melaksanakan kebijakan dan standardisasi teknis di bidang informasi dan diplomasi publik. Dalam melaksanakan tugas, Direktorat Jenderal Informasi dan Diplomasi Publik menyelenggarakan fungsi:

[[Direktorat Jenderal Informasi dan Diplomasi Publik|Mr. Cecep Herawan]] was appointed as [[Direktorat Jenderal Informasi dan Diplomasi Publik|Director General for Information and Public Diplomacy]] on 15 September 2017. Previously, he was the Minister/Deputy Chief of Mission of the Indonesian Embassy in Seoul since 23 June 2014. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Law at the University of Padjadjaran, Bandung and was awarded a Master Degree in Economic Law at the University of Indonesia, Jakarta. He joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in March 1993 and has served at the Permanent Mission of Indonesia to the United Nations in New York, America and Geneva, Switzerland, respectively between 1997-2000 and 2004-2008. Most of his career as a Diplomat was invested in multilateral issues, particularly on development and enviromental issues. He was appointed as the Acting Head of General Affairs and Logistics Bureau on 8 March 2011 until 10 May 2013 when he was formally inaugurated as the Head of General Affairs and Logistic Bureau, before leaving for Seoul.

Cecep Herawan was the head of delegation for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a dialogue for the 2nd Interfaith dan Intermedia Dialogue with Russia in September 2018. In his dialogue with Russian government officials and religious leaders, Cecep communicated a few important notes of how important this interfaith and intermedia dialogue is as a kind and informative gesture between the two countries. This dialog was held in the CIvic Chamber, a place where religious leaders in Russia carry out the mandate of their constitution about guaranteeing independence for religious followers.
The day before the dialogue between the delegations of the two countries was carried out, Cecep led a meeting with the Patriarchs, the supreme leader of the Russian orthodox Christian church. "We hope that this dialogue may build an understanding of the situation and challenges faced by the two countries," said Cecep.
