Sejarah sunting
George Bell & Sons didirikan oleh George Bell sebagai penjual buku pendidikan, dengan maksud untuk menjual produk dari percetakan-percetakan universitas di London; tetapi menjadi dikenal sebagai sebuah penerbit independen buku klasik dan buku anak-anak.

- 1840: 186 Fleet Street
- 1854: Mengambil alih kantor Deighton di Green Street dan Trinity Street, Cambridge
- 1864: Mengambil alih 4 York Street, Covent Garden. Lokasi ini mempunyai riwayat unik: penghuni rumah-rumah ini sebelumnya adalah perusahaan penerbitan dari Henry George Bohn; sebelum itu mereka telah menjadi milik penjual buku J. H. Bohte, yang mengkhususkan diri dalam buku klasik; dan sebelum itu (meskipun tidak segera sebelum) mereka telah menjadi rumah dari Thomas de Quincey.[1]
