C. K. Barrett
Charles Kingsley Barrett FBA (4 Mei 1917 – 26 November 2011)[1] adalah seorang sarjana Alkitab asal Inggris. Ia menjabat sebagai Profesor Teologi di Universitas Durham dan menulis komentari mengenai Kisah Para Rasul, Injil Yohanes, Surat Roma, 1 Korintus dan 2 Korintus.

Riwayat sunting
Barrett lahir di Salford, dan belajar di Shebbear College, Devon, Pembroke College, Cambridge, dan Wesley House di Cambridge. Dia ditahbiskan untuk pelayanan di Gereja Metodis, dan diangkat sebagai dosen teologi di Universitas Durham pada tahun 1945, di mana ia diangkat sebagai profesor pada tahun 1958. Dia juga berkhotbah secara teratur pada rangkaian Gereja Metodis di Darlington dan lebih luas.[2]
Barrett terpilih sebagai Fellow of the British Academy pada tahun 1961, dan dianugerahi Burkitt Medal pada tahun 1966.[3] Ia menjabat sebagai Presiden Society for New Testament Studies pada tahun 1973.
Penghargaan sunting
Pada tahun 1982, sebuah Festschrift diterbitkan untuk menghormatinya. Paul and Paulinism Essays in Honour of C.K. Barrett meliputi kontribusi dari Morna Hooker, F. F. Bruce, I. Howard Marshall, Martin Hengel, dan John Painter.
Barrett telah digambarkan sebagai berdiri bersama C. H. Dodd sebagai "Sarjana Perjanjian Baru Britania terbesar pada abad ke-20" dan "Komentator Britania terbesar mengenai tulisan-tulisan Perjanjian Baru sejak J. B. Lightfoot".[4]
