Cet egoyomi est fondé sur la légende chinoise du Ju Citong (jap. : Kikujidô), où un jeune homme (représenté dans cette mitate sous les traits d'une jeune fille), favori du roi Mu des Zhou, au XIe siècle BCE, est contraint à l'exil. Mais il a appris le secret de la vie éternelle, qu'il écrit sur des feuilles de chrysanthème qui deviennent à leur tour éternelles.
