Augustin-Jean Fresnel (/ˈfrn-, ˈfrɛn.ɛl, -əl/ FRAYN--,_-FREN-el-,_--əl or /frˈnɛl/ FRAY-nel;[2] bahasa Prancis: [oɡystɛ̃ ʒɑ̃ fʁɛnɛl];[3] 10 Mei 178814 Juli 1827) merupakan seorang insinyur sipil dan fisikawan Prancis yang penelitiannya di bidang optika mendapat penerimaan hampir bulat teori gelombang cahaya, tidak termasuk sisa-sisa teori korpuskular Newton, dari akhir 1830-an[4] hingga akhir abad ke-19.
