Akuanot adalah orang yang menyelidiki dalam lautan.[1] Akuanot berasal dari kata Latin aqua ("air") di tambah kata Yunani nautes ("pelaut"), berdasarkan pada analogi untuk istilah serupa "astronaut" (antariksawan).

Akuanot Josef Schmid bekerja di luar laboratorium bawah air Aquarius pada 2007.
