Stephen Root
Stephen Edward Root (lahir 17 November 1951) adalah aktor berkebangsaan Amerika Serikat, komedian, dan pesulih suara. Dia bermain sebagai Jimmy James dalam sitkom televis NewsRadio, sebagai Milton Waddams di film Office Space, mengisi suara Bill Dauterive dan Buck Strickland dalam serial animasi King of the Hill.[1] Peran yang lain di antaranya Captain K'Vada dalam Star Trek: The Next Generation, "Unification", dan sebagai Gordon Pibb dalam DodgeBall: A True Underdog Story.

Root lahir di Sarasota, Florida, anak dari Leona Estelle dan Rolland Clair Root, seorang pengawas konstruksi.[2] Root lulus dari Vero Beach High School di Vero Beach, Florida. Dia menerima gelar AA dari University of Florida, dan magang kerja di program seni peran BFA.[3]
Karier sunting
Root mendapatkan peran terakhir dalam dua musim dari serial The West Wing sebagai konsultan kampanye anggota dewan dari Partai Republik, Bob Mayer. Dia juga bermain sebagai Milton Waddams dalam Office Space, sebagai Gordon Pibb dalam Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story, sebagai Suds dalam Leatherheads, dan sebagai Judd Apatow dalamDrillbit Taylor. Root sangat dikenal dalam Coen Brothers. Dia tampil dalam O Brother, Where Art Thou?, The Ladykillers, dan No Country For Old Men. Kevin Smith menulis peran dalam Jersey Girl khusus untuk Root.
Root kembali bermain bersama dengan Mike Judge dalam Idiocracy dan juga memerankan sebagai direktur penerbangan NASA flight director Chris Kraft dalam miniseri From the Earth to the Moon. Root mendapat peran sebagai bintang tamu dalam Seinfeld, memainkan sebagai manajer bank dalam episode "The Invitations". Dia juga memerankan dalam Frasier episode "Detour" sebagai ayah dalam sebuah keluarga yang membantu Frasier ketika mobilnya mengalami kerusakan. Dalam CSI episode "Homebodies", dia bermain sebagai ayah dari korban pemerkosaan.
