Prof. Dr. Oman Fathurahman, M.Hum (born August 8th, 1969, in Kuningan, West Java-Indonesia) is Professor of Philology at the Faculty of Adab and Humanities, Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University of Jakarta. He teaches Indonesian Philology and Islamic Studies, Codicology, and History of Southeast Asian Muslim Society. Born in the Sundanese family, Fathurahman entered Faculty of Adab and Humanities at Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic Institute (IAIN) Jakarta, graduated cum laude in Arabic Linguistics (1994), and cum laude in Philology at the Faculty of Literature of Universitas Indonesia (UI) Depok (Magister [1998], Doctor [2003]). He was the Dean of the Faculty of Adab and Humanities, Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University (UIN) Jakarta (14 April 2014-9 March 2015).

The procession was held in Harun Nasution Auditorium, UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. Seminar and Launching of DREAMSEA program

Oman Fathurahman and Professor Jan van der Putten initiated DREAMSEA which is short for Digital Repository of Endangered and Affected Manuscripts in Southeast Asia. DREAMSEA is a program of care and preservation of ancient manuscripts located in Southeast Asia through media transfer or digitization. The launch of this program was conducted on January 24, 2018 at the National Library Building, Jakarta, marked by beating the gong by Drs. Muh. Syarif Bando, MM as the Head of National Library of Indonesia and accompanied by the Executive Director of PPIM, Saiful Umam, Ph.D.

The DREAMSEA program will run until 2022. During that time, the program set a target to digitize 240,000 pieces of codices to be assembled in an online repository named “Database of Southeast Asian Manuscripts”. This portal will be accessible widely for public and academic interest. In DREAMSEA, Oman Fathurahman serves as Principal Investigator.
