Smith lahir di Anaheim, California. Ayahnya adalah Afrika-Amerika dan ibunya adalah keturunan Eropa. Dia anak kelima dari sembilan bersaudara.[1][2][3] Smith lulus dari Orange County School of the Arts pada 2013 dan telah tampil di pertunjukan sekitar Orange County.
Kehidupan pribadi sunting
Smith came out sebagai queer dalam sebuah postingan Instagram pada 5 Juni 2020, dan mengatakan dia menjalin hubungan romantis dengan aktor Nicholas L. Ashe.[4][5]
