John Archibald Getty, III (lahir di Louisiana, 30 November 1950; umur 68 tahun)[1] adalah seorang sejarawan dan profesor Amerika di University of California, Los Angeles, yang mengkhususkan diri dalam Sejarah Rusia dan Sejarah Uni Soviet.

Kehidupan dan karierSunting

Getty lahir di Louisiana dan dibesarkan di Oklahoma. Ia meraih gelar Bachelor of Arts dari University of Pennsylvania pada 1972 dan Ph.D. dari Boston College pada 1979. Getty menjadi profesor di University of California, Riverside sebelum pindah ke UCLA. Getty merupakan John Simon Guggenheim Fellow, Research Fellow Universitas Negara Rusia untuk Kemanusiaan (Moskwa), dan Senior Fellow Harriman Institute (Columbia University), dan Davis Center (Harvard University.) Ia menjadi Sarjana Kunjungan Senior di Akademi Sains Rusia di Moskwa.[2]
