Michael Ray Nguyen-Stevenson lahir di Compton, California, pada 19 November 1989, dan dia pindah ke Gardena, California sekitar usia sebelas tahun.[2][3] Dia adalah keturunan Vietnam dan Jamaika.[4] Dia tumbuh dewasa dengan mendengarkan lagu Fabolous, Lil Wayne, Cam'ron dan Eminem di antara yang lain.[5]
