The Nut Job adalah film Korea Selatan-Kanada-Amerika Serikat produksi tahun 2014 bergenre drama komedi yang disutradarai oleh Peter Lepeniotis (yang juga menuliskan skenario bersama Lorne Cameron). Bebrapa bintang yang ikut bermain dalam film ini sebagai penyulihsuara antara lain Will Arnett, Brendan Fraser, Gabriel Iglesias, Jeff Dunham, Liam Neeson, danKatherine Heigl didukung oleh Stephen Lang, Maya Rudolph, dan Sarah Gadon. Film ini diangkat dari film animasi pendek karya Lepeniotis tahun 2005 berjudul Surly Squirrel.[6] Diproduseri oleh Gulfstream Pictures, Redrover International dan ToonBox Entertainment,[7] film ini dirilis di Amerika Serikat pada tanggal 17 Januari 2014, oleh Open Road Films.[8] Dengan anggaran sebesar $42.8 juta, film ini merupakan film animasi termahal.[3] Setelah usai pemutaran, film ini menghasilkan pendapatan sebesar $64.3 juta di Amerika Utara, dan total seluruh dunia mencapai $120.9 juta. 17 Januari 2011 diumumkan bahwa Lorne Cameron akan menuliskan skenario film bersama Peter Lepeniotis.[12] 15 November 2012 dikabarkan bahwa Katherine Heigl, Will Arnett dan Brendan Fraser bergabung dalam film ini.[13] 1 Maret 2013, menyusul bergabung, Liam Neeson.[14] PSY tampil sebagai Cameo sebagai dirinya dalam penutupan film dan juga menampilkan lagunya, Gangnam Style.[3][15]

Film ini dirilis di Amerika Serikat pada 17 Januari 2014, didistribusikan oleh Open Road Films.[16] Trailer film ini kali pertama diluncurkan pada 27 September 2013.[17] Distribusi internasional ditangani oleh The Weinstein Company.[18][19]

The Nut Job dalam format DVD dan Blu-ray dirilis pada 15 April 2014 oleh Universal Pictures Home Entertainment.[20]

The Nut Job berhasil meraup pendapatan sebesar $64,251,541 di Amerika utara, $48,491,709 di wilayah lain, dengan total penghasilan mencapai $128,743,250.[5] Di Amerika Utara, film ini saat diputar menempati peringkat ke-tiga pada akhir pekan pembukaan, dengan penghasilan $19,423,000, di bawah Ride Along dan Lone Survivor.[7][21] Di pekan ke-tiga pemutaran akhir pekan, film ini menurun menjadi peringkat ke-empat dengan penghasilan $7,278,450.[22] Dan pada pekan ke-empat, menurun lagi ke angka $3,753,080.[23]

Pada 23 Januari 2014, The Nut Job 2 diumumkan dirilis pada 15 Januari 2016.[29] 11 April 2016, tanggal rilis diundur ke 19 Mei 2017.[30] Will Arnett, Gabriel Iglesias, Jeff Dunham, Katherine Heigl dan Maya Rudolph memberikan konfirmasi bahwa mereka akan tampil kembali.[31][32] 25 Mei 2016, Heitor Pereira ditunjuk untuk mengerjakan skor film.[33] 5 Juli 2016, Jackie Chan bergabung dalam film ini[34]
