Shigeo Kurata
Shigeo Kurata (倉田 重夫, Kurata Shigeo) adalah seorang ahli botani Jepang dan ahli taksonomi Nepenthes yang bekerja pada tahun 1960-an sampai 1970-an dan berkontribusi banyak pada tumbuhan populer ini.[1][2] Karyanya yang dikenal terbaik adalah Nepenthes of Mount Kinabalu.[3] Nepenthes kurata diberi nama untuk menghormatinya.[2]
Kurata telah mendeskripsikan sejumlah spesies Nepenthes baru, yaitu N. campanulata,[4] N. eymae,[5] N. mindanaoensis,[6] N. peltata,[7] N. rhombicaulis,[4] dan N. saranganiensis.[8] Ia juga mendeskripsikan N. pyriformis,[6] yang kemudian diakui sebagai hibrida alami oleh Charles Clarke.[9] Hibrida alami lain yang dinamai oleh Kurata yaitu N. × ferrugineomarginata, N. × kinabaluensis, dan N. × kuchingensis.
