Maternal embryonic leucine zipper kinase (MELK) adalah enzim yang pada manusia disandi oleh gen MELK.[3][4][5] MELK adalah serin/treonin kinase milik keluarga protein AMPK/snf1 kinase. MELK pertama kali diidentifikasi hadir sebagai mRNA maternal pada embrio tikus.[6] MELK telah terbukti terlibat dalam perkembangan melalui siklus sel, mungkin terkait dengan interaksinya dengan CDC25B.[7]
