William Smith "Bill" Monroe (/mənˈroʊ/; 13 September 1911 – 9 September 1996) adalah seorang pemain mandolin, penyanyi, dan penulis lagu Amerika yang membuat gaya musik yang dikenal sebagai bluegrass. Karena itu, ia umum disebut sebagai "Bapak Bluegrass".[1] Genre tersebut mengambil nama dari bandnya, Blue Grass Boys, yang mengambil nama dari negara bagian kampung halaman Monroe Kentucky. Karier pentas Monroe berjalan selama 69 tahun sebagai penyanyi, instrumentalis, komposer dan ketua band.
