Menjadi salah satu codex yang mendasari bidang kritik tekstual Alkitab.
 
Bagian teks palimpsest bawah telah dianalisis oleh pakar Alkitab dan tulisan kuno (palaeografi) [[Constantin von Tischendorf|Tischendorf]] pada tahun 1840–1843, dan disuntingnya pada tahun 1843–1845.
