Maybe interesting to write that also the Colonial troops for the Dutch East Indies were trained from (from 1890) and sent to the Indies from the Waalkazerne ( Waalbarracks ) and Prins Hendrikkazerne ( Prince Hendrikbarracks ) in Nijmegen, also called the Colonial Reserve. The Barracks are near the Indies neighbourhood ( every big city has got an Indiesneighboorhood, strees and squares are named after places in the Dutch East Indies/Indonesia, like the Javastreet, Borneo square ) When van Heutsz and Colijn came back from the won Aceh war, they first went to Nijmegen where they were honoured.
