==Alur Cerita==
Guru bahasa Spanyol McKinley High, [[Will Schuester]] ([[Matthew Morrison]]) tahu kalau guru klub glee Sandy Ryerson [[Stephen Tobolowsky]]) dipecat akibat perbuatan tidak pantas kepada salah satu muridnya Hank Saunders ([[Ben Bledsoe]]). Maka, Kepala Sekolah McKinley High, [[Karakter di Glee#Figgins|Figgins]] ([[Iqbal Theba]]) memberikan Will izin untuk mengambil alih klub itu. Will menamai klub baru itu New Directions. Klub itu mendapat murid baru, yaitu [[Rachel Berry]] ([[Lea Michele]]), seorang yang harus akan ketenaran; [[Mercedes Jones]] ([[Amber Riley]]), seorang diva; penyanyi flamboyan [[Kurt Hummel]] ([[Chris Colfer]]), pemain gitar [[Artie Abrams]] ([[Kevin McHale (aktor)|Kevin McHale]]) dan [[Tina Cohen-Chang]] ([[Jenna Ushkowitz]]). Usaha Will ini mendapat cemoohan dari [[Sue Sylvester]] ([[Jane Lynch]]), kepala pelatih Cheerleader yang terkenal. Istri Will, [[Terri Schuester|Terri]] ([[Jessalyn Gilsig]]) juga tidak mendukung Will, dan malah menyarankan Will menjadi akuntan saja untuk menambah pengahsilan keluarga.
Setelah mereka latihan bersama untuk pertama kalinya, Rachel mengancam untuk keluar dari klub jika Will tidak dapat menemukan pria yang bakatnya sebanding dengannya. When the school's football coach [[Characters of Glee#Ken Tanaka|Ken Tanaka]] ([[Patrick Gallagher (actor)|Patrick Gallagher]]) allows Will to try to recruit football team members, he discovers that [[quarterback]] [[Finn Hudson]] ([[Cory Monteith]]) is secretly a talented singer. He plants [[marijuana]] in Finn's locker, and blackmails him into joining New Directions. Finn, determined not to disappoint his widowed mother, complies.
Will takes New Directions to see Vocal Adrenaline, a rival club, perform. He is accompanied by [[Emma Pillsbury]] ([[Jayma Mays]]), the school's [[Mysophobia|mysophobic]] [[guidance counselor]], who has a crush on him. Vocal Adrenaline perform an impressive rendition of [[Amy Winehouse]]'s "[[Rehab (Amy Winehouse song)|Rehab]]", which leaves New Directions worried about their chances of competing in the regional [[show choir]] competition. When Will returns from the performance, Terri informs him she is pregnant. Believing he needs to support his family, Will regretfully tells the club he is resigning, and applies for a job as an accountant. Finn is attacked by the football team for his involvement with New Directions, and initially decides to quit the club. The team traps Artie in a [[portable toilet]] which they intend to [[Outhouse tipping|tip over]], however, Finn refuses to take part. He apologizes to the Glee club members, and the group resolves to continue without Will. Emma urges Will to reconsider his decision to leave, and when he comes across New Directions performing "[[Don't Stop Believin']]" he decides to stay, telling the club he couldn't bear to see them win Nationals without him.
