Rumah sakit ini awalnya dimiliki oleh [[Temasek Holdings]], dan selanjutnya dimiliki oleh Health Corporation of Singapure (HCS) (di bawah Kementerian Kesehatan Singapura) pada tahun 1987. NUH terakreditasi oleh Joint Commission International (JCI) pada Agustus 2004 dan mendapat penghargaan Singapore Service Class pada Juli 2004.
