Karena ''Arizona'' tenggelam di perairan yang relatif dangkal, superstrukturnya tetap berada di atas permukaan air. Bagian ini kemudian dibongkar, tetapi lambungnya yang berada di bawah permukaan air dibiarkan sebagai tempat peristirahatan terakhir bagi awaknya yang gugur. Pada tanggal 30 Mei 1962, AS mendirikan USS Arizona Memorial tepat di atas bangkai kapal ''Arizona'', untuk penghormatan kepada mereka yang gugur pada serangan tanggal 7 Desember 1941 tersebut.
