Penemuan Neptunus: Perbedaan antara revisi

Planet [[Neptunus]] secara matematika diprediksi sebelum planet tersebut secara langsung diobservasi. Dengan sebuah prediksi buatan [[Urbain Le Verrier]], observasi-observasi teleskoptik mengkonfirmasikan keberadaan sebuah planet utama yang dibuat pada malam 23-24 September 1846,<ref name="chronology"/> di [[Observatorium Berlin]], oleh astronom [[Johann Gottfried Galle]] (dibantu oleh [[Heinrich Louis d'Arrest]]), yang bekerja dari kalkulasi Le Verrier. Peristiwa tersebut merupakan sebuah momen konfirmasi sensasional pada abad ke-19 tentang konfirmasi ilmu pengetahuan dan dramatis dari teori gravitasional pakar Newton. Menurut [[François Arago]], Le Verrier telah menemukan sebuah planet "dengan sebuah poin dari penanya".
