Orthoptera umumnya mempunyai badangbadan [[silinder (geometry)|berbentuk silinder/tabung]], dengan kaki belakang yang lebih panjang untuk meloncat. Mempunyai bagian mulut [[mandible (arthropod)|mandibulate]] untuk menggigit dan mengunyah. Matanya besar majemuk, dan dapat mempunyai atau tanpa [[ocelli]], tergantung dari [[spesies]].
